On the other side, functional literacy talks about the higher skill like critical and analytical aspects of the information you gather from the basic literacy. Hence it can be said that the functional literacy is the second step after basic literacy.
There are two aspects of the education assessment, one is on the side of students and the second is the system of education itself. Nowadays the documentation of student learning and progress plays a vital role in how educational programs are evaluated. There are many ways to assess student learning and achievement.
The primary purpose of assessment is to improve students’ learning. Teachers and students both are responsible for providing information which is needed about what knowledge, skills and understanding students need. Literacy assessment is the process of gaining information about the gap and learning is attempts to reduce the gap. The teacher always involves students for assessment and students see assessment as its essential to help them to monitor their learning.
The main assessment types include self-assessment, formative assessment, and summative assessment. These types of assessment are generally used to confirm the performance of students. Thus the assessment of literacy is essential to know whether the flow of knowledge is going into the meaningful way to the learners or not.
