Maneka Gandhi Requests Concessional Rates of Education Loans for Girls
The level of education among girls is low in India. In an effort to promote education among girls, the union minister Maneka Gandhi wrote a letter to HRD minister, Smriti Irani and Finance minister, Arun Jaitely. In her letter, Maneka requested educational loans for girls at concessional rates.
The Women and Child Development minister, Maneka Gandhi introduced the famous `Beti Bachao Beto Padhao’ scheme which was supported by many including Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
In her recent letter to Smriti Irani regarding the concessional education loans, she wrote “”When it comes to sending children for higher education, parents often distinguish between girls and boys… The girls often get denied the privilege of higher education or specialised courses only because parents do not wish to take a loan for their daughter’s education.”
She added that the minister has already been making many efforts for the girl child this will be a “small Incentive” among others.
