How to Prevent Alzheimer Disease Naturally with Yoga?

Yoga is practiced by people from around the world. It has been proved to be beneficial in curing and controlling number of diseases. A recent study says that person should start practicing yoga if a he suffers from cognitive and emotional problems that in future may cause Alzheimer’s and other form of dementia.

It is well known that yoga helps gaining flexible body and inner peace. In the study done by researchers of the University of California has found that yoga is very beneficial for person suffering from Alzheimer or any other form of dementia.

A senior author and professor in UCLA’s department of psychiatry, Helen Lavretsky said that yoga with meditation can be compared with memory training as it too improves memory. However, yoga has more benefits as compared to memory training as it also helps in improving anxiety, mood and coping skills. He said that people who have mild cognitive impairment are two and half times higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and other forms o dementia.

Helen said “Chronic stress and related stress hormones could negatively affect brain structure important for memory and cognition, like the hippocampus. Chronic stress is also associated with inflammation in the body and in the central nervous system that is linked to Alzheimer’s disease and other disorder of aging. Yoga can rduce stress hormones and inflammatory factors, and teach an individual over time how to cope more effectively and protect the body from going through the stress response.”

Helen said “If you or your relatives are trying to improve your memory or offset the risk for developing memory loss or dementia, a regular practice of yoga and meditation could be a simple, safe and low-cost solution to improving your brain fitness.” She even said that relatives of the patients too are in stress, practicing yoga will help them too. There allover well being and depressed mood can be healed. Helen added “Yoga and meditation can help people with Alzheimer’s fell happier and find peace, especially those in early stages who are struggling with the reality of memory loss.”

The lead author of the study, Harris Eyre, said historically and anecdotally, yoga has been thought to be beneficial in aging well, but this is the scientific demonstration of that benefit.

There is no cure for Alzheimer’s but experiments prove that yoga and meditation, helps in prevention of the disease and also improve quality of life and symptoms for patients.
